Invisalign & Clear Aligner Cost in Fairfax, VA (2026 Guide)

A realistic breakdown of Invisalign and clear aligner pricing in the Fairfax area, what insurance typically covers, and financing options to know about.

One of the most common questions we hear at Zen Family Dental is simple: how much will Invisalign actually cost me? The honest answer is that it depends on your case. Here's what drives the price, what a realistic range looks like in Northern Virginia, and how to lower what you pay out of pocket.

The typical price range in Fairfax

In the Northern Virginia and Fairfax area, comprehensive clear aligner treatment typically ranges from $3,500 to $7,000. Minor tooth movement can fall below that range, and complex bite corrections may go above it.

Direct-to-consumer aligner companies often advertise lower prices, but they generally address only mild spacing. Without in-person exams, X-rays and check-ins along the way, the risk of problems is higher, and fixing a treatment that went wrong usually costs more than doing it right the first time.

What drives the cost of your case

  • Complexity. Mild cases, such as minor crowding or small gaps, cost less and finish faster. Moderate cases that involve bite correction or wider spacing take longer. Complex cases that need significant movement sit at the higher end. Treatment length ranges from a few months for minor touch-ups to considerably longer for complex bites.
  • Number of aligners. Longer treatment means more trays, more office visits and a higher total.
  • Refinements. Some cases need extra trays near the end to perfect the result. Ask whether they're included.
  • Retainers. You'll need retainers to hold your new smile in place. Some offices include them; others charge separately.

If you're still deciding between aligners and wires, our comparison of Invisalign vs. traditional braces covers the trade-offs.

How insurance and financing help

Most PPO plans that cover orthodontics apply the same benefit to Invisalign as they would to traditional braces, often $1,000 to $1,500 toward treatment. Zen Family Dental works with Delta Dental, Cigna, Aetna, MetLife, Guardian and many other plans; see the full list on our new patient and insurance page. Our team will verify your benefits before you commit.

No orthodontic coverage? CareCredit and Cherry financing let you spread the cost over manageable monthly payments. You may also be able to use HSA or FSA funds, which lowers the effective cost because you're paying with pre-tax dollars.

What happens at a consultation

Your first step is a consultation. We take digital records, evaluate your bite and discuss what clear aligners can realistically achieve for your teeth. You'll leave with a clear picture of the timeline, the expected result and the cost, with no pressure to decide on the spot.

We'll also tell you plainly whether your case is one we can manage well with aligners, or whether a referral to an orthodontist would serve you better. Learn more about clear aligners at our office.

How to compare quotes

When you compare prices between offices, ask exactly what the fee includes:

  • Records and X-rays
  • All aligner trays, including refinements
  • Retainers at the end
  • Follow-up visits during treatment

The lowest quote isn't always the best value if it leaves out steps you'll need.
